Fropcorn, a hyper-local content distribution venture aimed at providing entertainment to travellers, has partnered with GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) to start Wi-Fi service at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad. This makes Rajiv Gandhi International Airport the first airport in India to provide freedom to passengers to download a wide range of blockbuster movies, TV shows and videos at the terminal at hyper fast speeds without needing any internet or data connection.

To get an access to the library of blockbuster movies, TV shows and videos of high definition quality, travellers need to download the Fropcorn app from Google Play Store. Through this unique service, the passengers can watch videos not only while flying to the destination but also they can store it using the superior – grade Wi-Fi servers at the airport. Currently, this on-demand service is only available at the security hold area of the domestic terminal. It will be extended to other parts of the airport later.

According to the article, Mr SGK Kishore, CEO, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), quoted:

“At GHIAL, we strive to offer our flyers a stress free and enjoyable journey experience. We understand entertainment is a great way to keep them engaged on the flight journey as they have limited or no entertainment options. With Fropcorn entertainment hotspot, we  now  extend  the  GHIAL  experience  even  beyond the airport premises and ensure our flyers have a great time throughout the journey. We expect this to be a wow experience for both the flyers and the airlines and shall further  augment  Hyderabad  airport’s status as a preferred Gateway for South & Central India.”

Fropcorn has joined hands with leading studios like Yash Raj, Sun TV and Reliance to provide users the best entertainment platform. Its target audience is travellers, professionals, students, mostly in the age of 18-34 years.

By the introduction of this unique video on demand services to the masses, Fropcorn has become a trendsetter in the travel industry. Many popular brands like Hotstar, Spuul, YuppTV deliver content over data plans. Since most of the travellers don’t prefer paying for content over costly data plans, FropCorn has launched the new service. With major focus on travellers as its mass market, Fropcorn might soon be the ‘NetFlix’ for flyers.
