How we report and correct

TravHQ is a trade publication about travel technology, startups and funding, written for the people who build, fund and run travel. This page sets out what readers, and the companies we write about, can expect from us.

Our standards

Stories are checked against their sources. Before a story goes up, its figures, names and dates are checked against the pages they came from. A fact seen only in a search result or a feed summary is not used until it is confirmed on the original page, and a fact that cannot be confirmed at its source is left out. Every story is approved by an editor before it is published.

We link to sources where we can. Where a story relies on a filing, a company announcement, a report or another publication, we link to it on the facts that matter most. Where a page cannot be linked, we name the source in the text.

Quotes are attributed. Quotes taken from published material, such as a company announcement or a talk on stage, name the person who said them. When we interview someone, we check their quotes with them for accuracy before the story goes up. They do not review headlines or analysis.

News, opinion and sponsored material are kept apart. News reports what happened. In news pieces our own view stays out of the body and is set apart at the end, under the heading Key takeaway. Every piece carries the author’s name. Anything sponsored carries a Sponsored label at the top and is not presented as news.

How corrections work

When we find a mistake, or a reader shows us one, we fix it on the same page. Every correction adds a dated note at the end of the story saying what changed. We correct the errors we can confirm against a source.

1. the link to the story,
2. the line you believe is wrong, and
3. a source that shows what is right.
