ITB Asia 2026 opens at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, on 21 October and runs to 23 October, the show’s 19th year under organiser Messe Berlin Asia Pacific with the Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau behind it. MICE Show Asia and Travel Tech Asia 2026 share the halls and the badge, which puts leisure, meetings, corporate and travel-technology buying under one roof for three days. For 2026 the organiser forecasts 18,000 participants, a buyer count above 1,500, 1,000-plus exhibitors and a speaker list past 160.

Last year the floor reached five halls on two levels, two more than in 2024, and 96 tourism boards and convention bureaus took stands. The Singapore Tourism Board has committed to the show until 2028, and the 2027 and 2028 editions are already fixed for 20 to 22 October and 25 to 27 October. This year’s theme is “Experiences in Motion: Human-Centred Design in Travel & Tourism”. “The travel industry is undergoing a profound transformation driven by evolving traveller expectations and rapid technological advancement,” said Darren Seah, Executive Director of Messe Berlin Asia Pacific.

Here is why a hotel, OTA or airline leader books the trip now rather than in October.

1. 60,000 business appointments were made here last year

The 2025 edition set a 2025 record of more than 60,000 business appointments, 35% more than in 2024, out of 18,000 attendees and a buyer count above 1,500, itself 7% higher than the year before. Seah’s line on it: “ITB Asia remains to be the meeting point where the world connects with Asia.” A three-day pass carries up to 33 appointment slots with exhibitors, so a buyer who registers early and fills the diary walks in with a full first day.

2. Travel Tech Asia 2026 adds a hosted buyer programme for CIOs and CTOs

Travel Tech Asia launches a hosted buyer programme in 2026, and it is built for the technology side of the house: roughly 100 CIOs, CTOs and procurement heads drawn from hotel companies, travel agencies and DMCs, TravelMole reported. The exhibitor list already carries Agoda, Trip.com, SiteMinder, RateHawk, DerbySoft, Juniper Travel Technology, Rakuten Travel Xchange, Flywire, Airalo, DragonPass, GoGlobal Travel and China Mobile International. The Hotel Tech cluster has grown for 2026 and now spans reservation systems, CRM, AI tools, design and sustainability, with the hall open from 09:30 to 18:00 each day.

3. Booking.com, KAYAK and Kiwi.com are on the Travel Tech Asia stage

The Travel Tech Asia speaker list so far runs to Laura Houldsworth of Booking.com, Masahiro Yamashita of KAYAK, Oliver Dlouhy of Kiwi.com, Brett Henry of WebBeds, Mehereen Agha Suharwardy of Go City and Michele Ruberl of Travel Token Marketplace. “Technology has become a key driver of innovation and growth across the travel industry,” Seah said. Across the three shows the conference adds up to 170-plus speakers and 4,500-plus minutes of sessions, and any exhibitor, buyer or visitor badge covers all of it. One exhibitor is worth a stop for its newest product: Agoda put an AI assistant that builds a bookable trip from a rough idea into limited public beta on 15 September 2026, according to its press release.

4. A Tripadvisor-built Experience Pavilion debuts

The Experience Pavilion comes out of a memorandum of understanding that Messe Berlin Asia Pacific and Tripadvisor Singapore Pte Ltd signed on 15 October 2025, day one of last year’s show, with Tripadvisor shaping the pavilion’s theme and its content. “We saw over 11 million experiences booked on our sites (including Viator) in the first half of 2025, which is a 15% YoY increase,” said Scott Wegener, Director of Sales (APAC) at Tripadvisor. Around the pavilion sit three Experience Zones, one each for gastronomy, wellness and adventure tourism, and 2026 is the first year the show runs curated guided tours of the floor.

5. The early bird pass is SGD 50 cheaper

The three-day pass to all three shows is SGD 190 early bird, rising to SGD 240 at the listed rate, with 9% GST on top of either. The same pass holds the 33 appointment slots and the full conference programme. Registration is open on the ITB Asia site.

For organisers and prospective speakers: the ITB Asia conference takes proposals through a public “Register as a Speaker” route on its site, separate from exhibitor, buyer and visitor registration.

Key takeaway

A hotel or OTA leader holding a Q4 travel budget should book the SGD 190 pass now and keep all three days, with day one on the Travel Tech Asia stage and the Hotel Tech cluster. Technology buyers at hotel groups, agencies and DMCs should apply for the hosted buyer programme rather than pay their own way. We would leave the Tripadvisor pavilion and the Experience Zones for day two, once the appointment diary has settled.

Bamboo Lao from Luang Prabang, Lao PDR beat 111 competitors from across Southeast Asia to take top prize in the 2018 Mekong Innovative Startups in Tourism (MIST) challenge. The elite travel startup competition receives support from the Australian Government and the Asian Development Bank and counts Asia’s most prominent travel-specialized venture capitalists among its advisors. MIST’s top prize comes with a $10,000 USD innovation grant.

Bamboo Lao is on a mission to eliminate single use plastics from hotels and resorts across Asia. They have produced more than 80,000 reusable bamboo straws as well as other bamboo serving ware, using special breeds of bamboo and a proprietary natural treatment process. Their straws – which are in use in Aman Group, Pullman, Rosewood Group, and Sofitel properties, as well as on EXO Travel tours – have already displaced the use of more than 5,000,000 single use plastic straws.

All startups finish presentation

“The MIST innovation grant is money we desperately need in order to scale up production from one to three villages. We have received international orders for as many as 100,000 straws, and we must invest in the capacity to meet that kind of demand,” said BambooLao founder Arounothay Khoungkhakoune.

Vietnamese startup Ecohost took MIST’s second prize and received a $5,000 USD grant. Ecohost enables quality experiences in the Vietnamese countryside, working village-by-village to develop tours and activities while improving the capacity of rural homestays to serve international guests.

The two-year-old MIST program supports high-growth-potential emerging market startups in travel and hospitality – especially startups making a positive impact on communities, cultures, and the environment. The program’s five 2018 finalists completed a weeklong bootcamp on business fundamentals, received five months of coaching, and showcased their business models at four events: the MIST semi-finalist pitch competition in Ho Chi Minh City, June’s Mekong Tourism Forum (Nakhon Phanom, Thailand), a final investor pitch in Singapore, and the Mekong Travel Startup Forum at Singapore’s ITB-Asia travel trade fair.

Opening remarks by Jens Thraenharnt

“The Greater Mekong Subregion includes the fastest growing tourism destinations on earth, which creates enormous economic opportunity even as it places the region’s travel industry under unprecedented pressure to innovate. MIST’s uniqueness in the global travel industry is underscored by its winners Bamboo Lao and Ecohost. These entrepreneurs have risen to the challenge of innovating practical local solutions to real industry problems and needs,” said Jens Thraenhart, executive director of the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office. The Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office administers MIST with the endorsement of the Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam national tourism organizations.

ITB Asia 2017, Asia’s leading travel trade show, had completed its milestone anniversary event this October with record-breaking numbers at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The event hosted about 940 exhibitors from 113 countries, an 11% increase over the previous year in its 10th anniversary. We spoke to Katrina Leung, Executive Director at ITB Asia, on what lies in store for the 2018 event and reflections from this year’s achievements.

1. This year’s theme at ITB was “The Future of Travel” – Can you give us some background about why did you choose this?

While planning for our tenth anniversary milestone event, we looked back to celebrate our past achievements but we also wanted to glance ahead to the next ten years to provide attendees with a useful view to the future.

We all know that technology and creativity are crucial to the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors as products and experiences can be showcased in the most effective manner. Technology will become even more vital to travel as it presents multiple opportunities for growth. Innovations such as Artificial Intelligence, virtual reality and beacon technology will be hugely impactful, and the brands that will do well in the coming years are the ones who will adopt these technologies and leverage their full potential. Indeed, Chatbots and voice-activated assistants are already helping airlines and online travel agencies handle transactions such as bookings and boarding passes.

As consumers become more and more interested in the ‘experience economy’, it was important for us to give our delegates the conference content and exhibition experiences to inspire them to make space for technology in their marketing strategies. And I believe we have achieved and surpassed our objectives – this year at ITB Asia 2017, we delivered the most comprehensive programme of presentations and discussions to date, clocked over 6,140 conference minutes, and our strongest line-up of speakers featuring industry heavyweights from the travel and tourism sector.

2. From a number’s standpoint, ITB Asia is currently one of the largest B2B travel-trade shows in Asia. With growth of travel-trade shows in other Asian countries, how do you see ITB Asia gearing up to competition.

ITB Asia remains the largest and most international travel trade show event in Asia. We welcomed over 11,000 delegates at ITB Asia 2017, an increase of 11% of exhibitors over the previous year, and our strongest ever buyer participation across the Corporate, MICE and Leisure sectors. We also recorded over 22,000 business appointments during the show.

The immense popularity of the show is evident. At this early stage, ITB Asia 2018 has already received the highest exhibitor rebookings from destinations such as Greece, the Middle East, Africa, Spain and Scandinavia, as well as continued strong support from Asian markets. It is the substantial growth in exhibitors that underlines how ITB Asia has firmly established itself as the leading industry event in the region. Indeed, it is the Asian outbound market that continues to attract huge interest and we are delighted to see such levels of growth from various key markets at the show this year.

Katrina Leung, Executive Director, ITB Asia

We continue to pride ourselves on our focus on quality and the customer experience, placing them front of mind with every decision and direction we take.

Our strong partnerships with leading organisations such as , the Korea Tourism Organisation and new buyer partners such as the National Association of Independent Travel Agencies (NAITAS) and the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) also help us leverage the show, maintain our reputation and sustain these valuable relationships.

3. Unlike other B2B travel-trade events, ITB Asia has a strong focus on seminars, panel-discussions and workshops. This year’s line-up of speakers include a stellar range of speakers from Google, CTrip, Tripadvisor. How do you see this growth?

We are proud to have put together such a rich and diverse conference programme, which is only possible with the continued support from the global travel industry. This is testament to the show’s expanding role as an important platform to bring all the different stakeholders in the travel and tourism sector together. For ITB Asia, it has been important to continue developing our seminars, panel-discussions and workshops and focus on a variety of topics to cater to all attendees and help to generate valuable business opportunities and key stakeholder relationships.

This year, the three-day conference presented an extensive programme of presentations and discussions, and is the most comprehensive line-up to date with over 6,140 conference minutes compared to just half of that in 2013. We hope everyone who attended this year’s show enjoyed and benefitted from engaging with the influential and exciting speakers on the most current and pressing topics in the industry.

4. You also had InnoVel as well as Israeli startups showcasing their value proposition. Can you tell us about your association with them?

Yes, we launched an exciting innovation travel technology track hosted by Israeli startup InnoVel which seeks to connect travel companies with cutting-edge start-ups. This is our first year working together, and we agreed to the partnership right away after we recognised that there would be the right alignment and synergy. For us, we are always looking to increase the diversity of speakers and delegates at our events, and to be more inclusive by including interesting and disruptive start-ups at ITB Asia. InnoVel’s start-ups are looking to tap into the Asian market, and they chose ITB Asia as the right platform for them to do so.

5. This year, the Singapore Tourism Board has also adopted a new campaign theme “Passion Made Possible”, as a partner country do you see this impacting ITB Asia’s delegate participation in a positive way.

The new campaign, under the theme “Passion Made Possible” highlights the opportunities that Singapore presents and how it is the place where one can turn creative ideas into actual concepts that are successful. It is this very spirit of Singapore that has played a key role in making ITB Asia a great success over the past decade, driven in large part by the support we have received from various stakeholders in Singapore.

6. What else lies in store for delegates coming to ITB Asia 2018?

ITB Asia 2018 will be held from 17-19 October 2018 at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands. Following this year’s successful show, ITB Asia has received the highest exhibitor rebookings from ITB Asia 2018. As early as now, the surge in interest for next year’s show has been seen from destinations such as Greece, Middle East, Africa, Spain and Scandinavia as well as continued strong support from Asia markets. Clearly, the show continues to grow every year. For our conference segment, we will look to explore exciting new industry verticals and attract industry experts and thought leaders to present and engage with audiences.

Mench Dizon isn’t your typical travel startup entrepreneur. She is a 37 year old mom of two but what makes her different is the fact that she has run 17 marathons in her ten years of running with no prior experience. She has been a six-star finisher having finished all of the World Marathon Majors, in the process she is one of less than ten Filipinos to have done so.

We met up with Mench in Singapore recently where she talked about her experience of running, being an entrepreneur in Philippines and the idea behind TripClub.

1. Curious about the name TripClub

We chose the name TripClub because it feels like a global brand, which is what we aspire to become. It connotes exclusivity because we originally intended for it to be a membership-only access for travel via subscription. However as we shifted direction towards corporate travel for SMEs, the brand still works because we still offer closed-garden access to our inventory for onboarded business while providing them with business trip tools to better manage their corporate travel.

2. Who are your customers?

Our primary customers are SMEs who struggle with fragmented and unmanaged business travel both from a perspective of booking and overall travel mamagement. Our jump-off point is the Philippines for a Southeast Asia play.

3. Would it be right to term that you’re looking at the segment of outbound B2B travellers from Philippines?

Initially this is our market but we believe that we are addressing business travel pain-points that is true across various markets in the region.

4. On the inventory side, how have you been growing your partner hotel inventory?

We are working with various aggregators as a quick-go-to-market strategy. We believe in the value of working with partners for this so we can focus on creating the best user experience for our B2B market instead of spreading our energy getting incremental gains from doing the one-by-one acquisition ourselves. We are in the business of building the platform to aggregate these various sources and less on the business of sourcing directly.

Mench Dizon, TripClub travel startup in Philippines

5. Currently the focus is on hotel bookings or you’re looking at the entire travel-segment?

Current focus is identifying partners who will provide us with inventory that is relevant to our business travel. This includes flights, hotels, transfers, lounge access, travel insurance, itinerary and expense management, among other things.

6. If you had to pick one trend that will disrupt travel industry next year, what would that be?

Mobile revolutionizing how corporate travel is done.

7. From running marathons to travel startup, you seem to have a knack of doing challenging things. Is the experience similar

I always believe that how you do one thing is how you do everything. Running marathons is very much similar to running a travel start-up from the preparation to the dedication you put into each and ultimately to its fruition. Preparing for a marathon entails for me to train smartly especially since I have limited time to do so with all the responsibilities to juggle – being a solo founder, a wife, a mom and an athlete. To do this, I am deliberate about the drills and training that I do and not just unnecessarily pack in the mileage. In the same way with start-ups, I have to identify which part of the business I should focus my energy on and not just blindly take on whatever comes my way. With running I also learn better by doing and by being coached and I can say that in business it is the same.

sI take on challenges so I learn from actual experience but I complement this with seeking out mentors who can fast track my learning because they have gone through this experience themselves and can tell me exactly what to watch out for. Marathons are also about showing up to train everyday even if you don’t feel like it. I have days when I don’t now what do do at work but I continue to just show up and figure things out. I continue to do so because I believe I can be successful as manifested in my running journey. I got to finish all the the World Marathon Majors in a span of five years through sheer dedication and knowing this gives me comfort that I too can be successful in the work that I do if I adhere to a process of showing up fully and wholeheartedly everyday.

8. How many marathons you have run so far?

I have ran 17 marathons in my ten years of running. I am a Six-Star finisher having finished all of the World Marathon Majors. I am one of less than ten Filipinos to have done so.

Asia’s leading travel trade show, ITB Asia 2017 has completed its milestone anniversary event with record-breaking numbers. The tenth edition of ITB Asia came to a close today at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

Over three days, the event hosted about 940 exhibitors from 113 countries, an 11% increase over the previous year. ITB Asia 2017 also welcomed its strongest ever buyer participation across the Corporate, MICE and Leisure sectors. Since 2014, ITB Asia has experienced a 1:1 ratio for exhibitors and buyers. This year, there were over 22,000 business appointments recorded during the show.

Ribbon Cutting & VIP Guided Tour

Unveiling its largest exhibitors showcase yet, ITB Asia 2017 reported a spectacular 77% growth from its inaugural edition, featuring new exhibitors such as the Rwanda Development Board, Tourism Tunisia, Promote Iceland, Tourism & Foreign Affairs Department of Almaty City, Republic of Kazakhstan, Jeju Convention and Vistor Bureau, amongst others. Exhibitors also invested more in the quality of their booths, with Greece, Japan, Russia and Korea putting up impressive and engaging experiences.

This year’s conference programme looked at the role of technology, setting the tone for the changes that the industry is likely to see in the next ten years. Speakers from big names IBM Asia Pacific and Google delivered insights on the potential of Artificial Intelligence, Ctrip presented its global strategy, while fast-growing start-ups Hiverlab, Zebra Design and Savioke shared on the exciting realities and opportunities for augmented reality and virtual reality in hospitality and tourism.

“In view of ten years of ITB Asia, we’ve taken every effort to celebrate the past as well as to provide attendees with a useful view to the future. While we are very pleased with our achievements in terms of the quality and numbers, what brings us most satisfaction is bringing together all the different stakeholders across the industry to network and inspire each other. The relationships built and strengthened will continue to boost our efforts in making ITB Asia the region’s go-to event and a hub for unforgettable content and enriching experiences for many years to come”, said Katrina Leung, Executive Director of Messe Berlin (Singapore), the organiser of ITB Asia.

ITB Asia will continue to be held in Singapore, following the past ten years of consistent support from the Singapore Tourism Board and the Singapore Exhibition Convention Bureau. Following this year’s successful show, ITB Asia has received the highest exhibitor rebookings for ITB Asia 2018. As early as now, the surge in interest for next year’s show has been seen from destinations such as Greece, Middle East, Africa, Spain and the Scandinavian region as well as continued strong support from Asian markets such as Thailand and the Philippines. Melia Hotels International and Global DMC Network by the JTB Group have also confirmed their stand bookings for the 2018 show.
